Living On A Boat?
In the UK, is it expensive ?
As regards mooring fees, insurance etc.
Are there ways around it? ie moving about.
What advice?

What Does It Cost To Get Into Sailing, Boat Ownership, Cruising? ?
I’m familiar with the costs of cars, trucks, motorcycles and even a bit of airplanes. What are the licensing requirements and costs of learning to sail? What are the insurance requirements, especially in the U.S.? What are the registration/documentation costs and requirements? Maintenance expenses = ? There are plenty of books that address these matters for airplane ownership and flying, but I can’t find any that answer these for sailing.
The kind of sailing I’d like to do would be first, starting out with a dinghy on inland lakes. Later, if finances, health, time, etc. permit doing some blue water cruising around North & South America. Some of it possibly single-handed as experience permits.

How Many Of You Are In The Same Boat?
how many of you work but dont have health insurance and cant afford to buy it? and because your working and not sitting at home having more kids you cant get a medical card? i am so sick of it. i cant even take my kids to a dentist or the dr. i think i have a broken arm or at least a chiped bone and cant even go to the dr and yet here are all these people who are more then able to work but dont and they run to the dr for a runny nose. must be nice. im not talking about people who cant work or the elderly the elderly should have free medical.
i would be willing to pay so much per month for a medical card but no. i just dont think its fair that we work our buts off and cant get any kind of medical ins. it should be a rite not a privilage. and if they would stop supporting all these lazy people who just wont work then maybe they could help us out more. sry guess i just needed to vent too. you tend to get grouchy when your in pain. anyway also wanted to see how many others are w/o,

How Much Can I Rent Part Of My Yard For To My Neighbor Who Wants To Park His Boat And Trailer There?
A couple years ago another neighbor wanted to park his boat and trailer on our land for a short time. The short time turned into almost 2 years free of charge. Also he ended up using parts of our yard that we never agreed to, parked a blown up van there and when he moved, he came back 6 months later to finally get his boat and vehicles removed. He left burnt metal and tons of glass and never offered to clean it up or pay us anything. Another neighbor asked us tonight if he could rent the area and he would maintain it, mow the yard around it, etc. The area is behind our shed and behind part of our fence. It has a 2 car driveway that is old and cracked where a barn used to sit there. The yard around it is also about the same size. Would this cause our insurance to go up any? Are there any other things we should consider to rent it on a monthly basis. And what could we charge? Thank you.

Housing Cost, Missing The Boat??
People are missing the boat with the high cost of housing, I live in small town America in the midwest, The total cost to own a house, the best house in town is less than $1000 a month, encluding mortage, taxes, insurance, and utilitys, Oh yes we have winters, but you know thats not all so bad, it gives us a time to enjoy family, and partake of things we are too busy to to enjoy during the better weather, the area is excellent to garden, hunt and other oudoor activitys, We are within 1 hour of any cultural thing you might want to partake of, 15 minutes from major shopping, and all good highways, and crime is low, most prople dont even lock doors, and above all you know your neighbor, and we look after each other. So I ask, Why live in California, New York, or these other high dollar areas, When you can have every necessity and more at a reasonable cost, plus family values, Great for retirees, looking to cash in and live the good life.

Is There A Massachusetts Boat Owner Guru Out There? ?
Hello, I came up with the crazy idea of purchasing a boat.
I am thinking on nothing fancy, just around 10k.
It is a crazy idea because I don’t know anything about owning a boat in Massachusetts.
I check on craigslist and find a few good deals, but I don’t know if I am digging my self a hold.
Since the summer season in Ma is very short I will probably be using it only for 3 to 4 months a year. I have a house with a big yard were I can keep it.
This bring me to a few questions.
1. what should I know before buying a boat.
2. do I have to pay docking fees, and if yes, how does it work.
3. is insurance expensive?
4. any suggestions.
do i have to be rich???
I am open to suggestions.

Small Boat Purchase Question?
Hello,
I want to purchase a 14′ boat. It has a 5hp Briggs and Stratton. What I want to know is, do you know the approximate cost of insurance, or how much registratio would cost? I live in Utah, and I tried looking on the DMV’s website for all of this, but couldnt find it. The boat ad does not have the year, but here it is if you would like to see what it looks like

My Children “are” My Responsibility, But My Ex Claims Poverty And Lives In A 4 Bdrm. 3 Bath, Owns Boat
“He” claims poverty and makes me pay over 9,000 per year in child support when he owns a boat, scuba dives, goes skiing 2x a year in Vermont, owns a quad, dirt bike, owns his own business. I PAY when it comes to my kids and do not ever complain because I cannot afford to pay a lawyer ($10,000+) to prove his lies. I am a provider who is being taken for a ride. Now he wants me to pay all health insurance for kids because his IRS forms claim he only makes $25,000 yearly.
