Will My Insurance Cover This Incident? This One Is A Little Complicated!?
I need HELP from those of you knowledgeable about car insurance and the law in general. There are many details, but will try to make it short. This is the incident: My truck in parked in the driveway at my best friend’s house, lets call him Tom. A boat that Tom owns is parked out in the street a short distance away from my truck. A car comes driving down the street with excessive speed, strikes Tom ’s boat, and hits it so hard, the boat ends up in the side of my truck parked in Tom’s driveway. QUESTION: Will my auto insurance cover this incident, OR, because the car that hit the boat did not come in direct contact with my truck, will I have to file a claim with Tom ’s homeowner’s insurance? This was a hit and run accident. The police caught up with the perpetrator and had him arrested. Also, I would like to file a lawsuit against the person that hit Tom’s truck, causing it to slam into my boat, do you find this action reasonable? Thanks to anyone with advice!!!
