What Do We Need To Know? Buying A Boat.?
We found a jon boat on Craig’s List for about $1500. We’re of course going to try to get them down on the price, but I have a feeling that there may be additional expenses (insurance?) that we aren’t considering. The boat comes with the following:
5 hp Briggs & Stratton OB Motor, (used less than 5 hours) w/1 hp Sears trolling motor & new battery, Eagle fish finder, swivel seats, anchor & spare tire. Includes 1995 Long Trailer.
The only problem with the boat is that it’s older so the plywood will need to be replaced and the swivel seats (fine for now) will probably also need to go at some point.
What other expenses do we need to consider?

I Am Going To Be Evaluated For A Heart Transplant In Two Weeks. What Do I Need To Know? Anyone Have A New One?
I have ARVD and an ICD. With the progression of the disease, it has gotten to the point that The RV is not pumping very well and I have gone into heart failure. It’s not too bad right now, but it has a way of rapidly declining the nearer I get to this invisible edge.
What I want to know, is if you have had a heart transplant, how did it go. Where did you have it preformed? How long was your wait for a heart? What are the guidelines for being listed? How long and painful is the recovery? How expensive are the meds if you have insurance? How many meds are you on for the rest of your life? Right now I take 40 pills a day. Does life get better? I am pretty much an ARVD couch potato. I noticed when I was in the USAF that I had no running ability, even for a mile, I would fall of the squadron’s pace. I never have had any kind of physical stamina even when I was somewhat in shape. Unfortunately, I wasn’t diagnosed as having this very rare disease until 2001 even though I was having syncope and sustained VT since the mid 1980’s. Anyone out there picking up what I’m putting down? I welcome your responses.

Do You Know Of Any Auto Insurance Companies That Don’t Base Your Rates On Your Credit Report?
Due to an illness/ disability in our family, despite having health insurance, we still owe thousands in medical bills. Those that would not work with us turned them into collection. They now show on our credit report.
Despite being insured for both our auto insurance and our home insurance for 20+ year with the same insurance company, we got a notice saying our auto insurance had gone up hundreds of dollars per year based on a credit report they obtained. We have never had an accident, ticket, etc. and the amount automatically comes out of our checking each month. Plus, last year, prior to this, they switched us to a preferred group within the company and gave us a discount when we threatened to switch.
How can I find out which insurance companies base your insurance rates on your credit report and or score? Will they tell you outright? This is the first I have ever known that our company did this and was wondering if all of them do it, or do you just know about it when you get a notice like we did?
I get their reasoning but it seems like such a rip off when so many are in our boat- insured but with insurance that is starting to pay less and less and cost more. Plus, they have our checking account and if we were not to pay, they wouldn’t be responsible for us if we had an accident anyway. Seems like a double whammy to me. Can anyone help?
